As 2023 winds down it is typical to review our accomplishments during the year as well as noting those items that may still be on a To Do List.

The wayfinding package was purchased in part by community donations from park users and supporters who wanted to improve the park’s accessibility and safety.

The open spaces in Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak Region are vast with hundreds of miles of trails.

In late July, City of Colorado Springs Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services employees began construction on the long-awaited Ute Valley Park (“UVP”) Trail.

The word of the day is change. Not the nickels, dimes and quarters rolling around in your car’s console kind of change. Nope. This use of the word would be the embrace change kind of change.

During my recent deplaning effort on one of their flights, I overheard a man and women talking. She explained she was visiting Colorado Springs for a wedding, and it was her first trip here.

The city has postponed the electrical assisted bicycle (e-bike) pilot program until further notice.

As we go through our life, we come to realize that change is and will always be a constant. A lot of the change we experience is expected and accepted. Much of the change we can control, but there is a lot we cannot.

As we get closer to the warmer months, the city has scheduled several tentative projects to improve Ute Valley Park. As of now, we are still limited to 9 volunteers and 1 crew leader per group.

2021 brings a new website for Friends of Ute Valley Park

It this time last year so many verbal greetings I had extended and all the holiday cards I sent all included the traditional “Happy New Year” wish to family and friends alike. Who knew?

2020 was a great year with a long list of accomplishments for Ute Valley Park. It took many organizations and individuals to make it all happen.
